stewardship sewing
Imagine the comfort that comes from a hug at the time when you need it most. That’s the feeling you can share with an LWR Quilt (Lutheran World Relief). Through a simple combination of fabric and thread, you can reach out to people in their time of greatest need with a strong message of hope — you are not alone.
First and foremost, recipients use their LWR Quilts to shield against the cold and rain, and for warm bedding. But their versatility also makes Quilts useful as simple tents, floor coverings, or a wrap to hold a baby on a mother’s back.
Join this group of dedicated sewers who meet every Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until ca. 2:00 P.M. in the parish hall to participate in the Lutheran World Relief (LWR) project "Make Mission Quilts" (https://lwr.org/get-involved/quilts). No experience is necessary and there are many ways to contribute to and join in the making of quilts and other projects. The group supports one another in their endeavors and takes a break for lunch and a short devotion.
Twice a year an "in-gathering" or collection of quilts is made. Other projects are also supported by this group through LWR:
---School Kits
---Personal Care Kits
---Baby Care Kits
---Fabric Kits
This year, in two different shipments in May and October, Stewardship Sewing will send 220 quilts, 40 school kits, 5 health kits and 8 sewing kits. Thank you also to all the members of the congregation who support this project!
