PFLC  Endowment

Peace First Lutheran Church Endowment Fund

We are privileged to have an Endowment Fund at PFLC. The purpose of the fund is to provide a means for members and friends of PFLC to extend the ministry of the congregation, to enhance the quality of that ministry, and to endow memorials as living testaments to those to be remembered. Thank you to all who gave toward the PFLC Endowment Fund both during the year and also with your special Christmas offerings. Your contribution ensures the growth of the fund and continues to provide the congregation the means to impact missions and programs beyond those areas which are supported by the congregational budget. A helpful brochure about the PFLC Endowment Fund may be found on the information table by the elevator in the church. This brochure gives more information about both the history of the fund and identifies the areas of ministry which may be supported through the use of these grant funds.

The endowment funds are professionally managed by the ELCA Endowment Pooled Trust. The endowment fund investment vehicle promises a 4% return on our investments over a rolling 5 year average. The value of the endowment has grown this past year from $239,218 to $272,256.  After reinvesting from the interest of the fund the endowment board anticipates having over $7,000 of grant funds available for distribution to selected programs or ministries.

This year, the Endowment Committee is asking the congregation to more fully partner in the selection of these grant awards, including both Sunday School and Confirmation Class participants.

In 2019 grants were given to the following ministries of PFLC:

PFLC Card Ministry

Council Retreat and Team Building

Youth Disaster Program Materials

Stewardship Sewing

Coffee Hour

Hope Garden

Hope Youth Earth Day

Women’s Retreat 2019

Grants to the community were given to the following organizations:

Hope House

Knappa Schools Back Pack Program

Warrenton Schools Healthy Kids

St. Vincent de Paul Food for Kids

Grace Episcopal Pantry

In January the Endowment Committee will ask for direct input from the congregation regarding your ideas for grants. Where would you place your priorities: feeding the hungry, caring for the homeless, enhanced youth ministry, congregational retreats, opportunities for greater learning through workshops, guest speakers, conferences, musical or art programs? We look forward to working together in 2022 as we share God’s blessings and shine the light of Christ in our community.
